The program of this new edition of the Tour de France à la Voile is tempting. From Dunkirk to Nice passing through Roscoff, Roses and Hyeres, the crews and their M34 boats will face one another without mercy. On the mainland, onlookers and mainsail lovers will be satisfied from the activities and entertainment prepared by the organizing committee.
Conceived by Bernard Decré, this event that smells like the sea was born in 1978. The race, which is a real must, brings into competition only one category of boats to underline the talent of the sailors. In the past, the event was attended by the best sailors such as Michel Desjoyaux, Eric Tabarly or Florence Arthaud, while others such as Jean-Pierre Dick and Daniel Souben had the chance to win this prestigious Tour.
This year, 9 teams will struggle for 900 miles, along 24 technical routes and 6 stages of the rally. For three weeks, viewers will be able to cheer on their favorites at sea or on the docks, always taking advantage of the joyful atmosphere. Dunkirk, Dieppe, Granville, Roscoff, Roses, Gruissan, Hyeres and Nice are preparing to welcome 200 000 visitors.
Mast climbing, paddleboats, sporting challenges, nautical initiations, games, concerts, exhibitions and activities for children, everything has been designed to please both small and big sailors. The impatients will storm the Caravan of the Tour, which will arrive in each stage host town a day before the arrival of the ships, offering surprises and goodies. After 37 years of history and experience, the Sailing Tour de France is always a happy and full of emotions event.
