ART: Welcome to the Biennial of Cerveira, Portugal

From 18th July to 19th September, artists from all horizons meet in Vila Nova de Cerveira on the eighteenth edition of the International Biennial of Art of Cerveira.

It is an hour away from Porto, in northern Portugal, that the Bienal de Cerveira was created in 1978. Since then, every two years, the Minho Verde or the "region of green wines" is the theatre of this great international cultural event. With its collection of religious art of the monastery of Bom Jesus and of its growing cultural heritage, Vila Nova has become a refuge of artists and artisans.

For this 18th edition of the Bienal de Cerveira, digital art, engraving, ceramics, painting, sculpture, design ... all dialogue around the theme "Looking to the past to create the future." A consideration that connects regional tradition, history and contemporary creation. The Bienal proposes again this year ateliers and workshops, an international competition, lectures and debates, guided tours and of course, an exhibition based on the work of regional, national and international artists.

A real meeting place, the Bienal de Cerveira is the event that questions the foundations of contemporary art and investigates its social, cultural and political concerns.
