TECHNO: The Green Electricity, fruit of the Arbre à Vent

The invention of the French Start up NewWind R&D is about to bloom a little everywhere. Nice and quiet, the leaves of the Arbre à Vent are at the service of renewable energy.

With its sleek and futuristic design, this wind biomimetic system is definitely the answer to citizens' expectations with regard to green energy. Imagined by Jérôme Michaud-Larivière, the Arbre à Vent (Wind Tree) can be perfectly implanted along the seaside as well as in the city center because its leaves are able to take advantage of the slightest breath of air. In fact, every Aeroleaf is independent and works with all types of wind, thus allowing the system to produce electricity for more than 260 days a year.

Awarded at the Grand National Innovation Competition of the CNAM, the Arbre à Vent is a symbol of advanced technology in the field of micro-electronics. Thanks to designer Claudio Colucci, all the components of a classic wind system are hidden to make way for a tree with reasonable size of 11x6 meters (36x19 ft). It will be exhibited on the Place de la Concorde on the occasion of the international climate conference to be held in Paris at the end of the year. While municipalities will be able to adorn their streets in 2016, it will take one more year for a private citizen to get this technological jewel. Meanwhile, projects around the Aeroleaf multiply: "Bushes" or "Smart Balconies", shortly the green leaves of NewWind R&D will supply our homes.
