Culture and history
Vori is one of the oldest villages in the region with continuous settlement since the early Minoan period. Ceramic fragments from the 12th century BC were found nearby. BC and frescoes from the 14th century were found. The story is closely linked to the Minoan palace of Phaistos, which once served as the center of the Messara Plain. There is an ethnological museum in the village that documents the cultural tradition and rural life of Crete and received the European Museum Prize in 1992.
