The village can be reached via the main road E75 towards Agia Varvara, further via Zaros, Vorizia and Kamares, then south towards Mires to Grigoria (a total of approx. 63 km from Heraklion).

Grigoria is located on the Messara plain with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and is about 70 km from Heraklion. In the immediate vicinity (approx. 2 km) is the village of Magarikari, also a traditional village. Worth seeing is the so-called Koule Castle, which is located about 1 km east of the village.
History and special features
During the German occupation of Crete in World War II, Grigoria, like many villages in the region, was heavily destroyed in 1944. To commemorate this, a peace chapel was built in the village with the support of a German couple. It is usually open in the summer and serves as a memorial for peace and reconciliation.
