Almyrida is located 23 km east of Chania on the south side of Souda Bay and 1 km west of Plaka. It is a quiet resort with good infrastructure and beautiful sea. The untouched landscape and green olive groves around Almyrida are ideal places for hikers. Just 1 km to the east lies the picturesque Plaka, the largest village in the region. Plaka is known for its healthy climate and the hospitality of its residents. In the area there are sea caves of rare natural beauty (e.g. Nerospilia), traditional narrow streets and old, well-maintained houses.
