Kavousi is a charming seaside village on the main road from Sitia to Agios Nikolaos and is well served by local buses. This traditional village has several taverns, kafenia and small shops as well as regular visits from traveling traders. Pretty village at the foot of the almost vertically rising northwest flank of the Thripti Mountains. On the thoroughfare there are oleanders and mulberry trees, the district is very winding with stairs, cobbled paths, churches and chapels. Nearby attractions include the Chavgas Gorge and an approximately 3,250-year-old olive tree in Archaia Elia Azoria. There is a nice little beach in Tholos.
