The name of the village is presumed to be related to the pre-Hellenic ANTANASSOS and that it changed when the homonymous Panagia Pantanassa was built in the 12th century, which was destroyed and the modern church of the village was built in its place. Its inhabitants are engaged in animal husbandry, oil and vegetable production. To the northwest, there is the River Dam. On the northeastern slope of the Venni hill is Agios Antonios, the catholic of an abandoned monastery.
