In traditional architecture, the compositional logic arises from an additive approach in which buildings line up next to each other and gradually merge into a “multicellular organism” – a settlement. The architectural development of Residences A and C is topographical: exposed concrete walls emerge as traces in the landscape and transform into retaining walls that define the interior spaces as well as the outdoor areas with a light shading network. The spatial composition is symbolically represented by the upside down Greek letter “PI” – a “vessel of life”. Residence B rises at the bottom of the hill; two parallel walls rise from the ground at an angle. An artificial rock is created that leans towards the view - a reminiscence of the local goats that stand on the slopes. The result is highlighted by the intense Greek light and merges with the landscape to form a uniform structure of living and nature, characterized by clear character traits and harmonized spaces. The arrangement of the openings gives the impression of a spiritual retreat that offers plenty of light, pleasant cooling and a close connection to the surrounding nature. Nature unfolds in front of the user, along the imaginary path of light. A unique play of light and shadow is created, which always offers new experiences throughout the day - depending on the position and intensity of the sun.
