At present, the municipality has excellent accessibility, with the two links to the motorway in the region, A22, also known as the Via do Infante, being noteworthy. Fishing and the canning industry continue to be key elements of the municipality's economy, although construction, trade and real estate activities are also important. The strong investment in tourism opens a new horizon for the municipality of Olhão. The recent marina, the requalification of the riverside area and the construction of luxury hotels are all steps in the long journey of progress and dynamism in this municipality.
