Sines is a city in setúbal district. Today through the deepwater port of Sines already passes more than half of port traffic in Portugal, especially containers. And the enlargement of the Panama canal could give Sines a great boost, provided that an appropriate rail link is finally built on Spain and Central Europe.

The main events in Sines are Carnival and the Festival Music of the World.
