Signed at the Paris Boat Show, the Hermione project will water the eponymous frigate in 2015. The Hermione foundation's goal is to revive the legendary boat that, in 1780, brought the Marquis de Lafayette on the coasts of separatist America. Acclaimed by critics, the project soon gave birth to the construction site of Rochefort, that has become since its opening in 1997, the fourth most visited site of the Poitou-Charente region.
The figures of this sea adventure are impressive. More than three million visitors have trod the deck of this legendary sailing ship with three masts and the foundation now has almost 7,500 enthusiastic members. To reach them and get your own signature on the flag of the frigate, all you need is to make a donation to the foundation. The most curious may also visit the shipyard.
Hermione’s journey will begin in April 2015 in Rochefort. For four months, a crew of volunteers will travel 13.000 kilometers in 12 stages, chosen for their importance in the history of the American Revolution. Thus, Hermione’s sailors will dock in the Canary Islands, Philadelphia, New York, but also in Brest before returning home.
